  • A Superbill is a billing receipt of your sessions. If you have out-of-network (OON) benefits (most people do), you can submit them to your insurance for reimbursement. I include all the information needed by insurance (CPT/ICD codes, dates, diagnoses, fees, and my credentials).

As an example, here’s how it works:

Your OON benefit is 70% after a $1200 deductible is met. This means if you pay $230 per session, it will take you 5 sessions to fulfill your $1200 deductible. Afterwards, your insurance will reimburse you $161 per session and you pay only $69 for therapy. You must submit a Superbill to your insurance after every session.

    If you need help

The process is not difficult but it can take up some of your time. If you prefer, you can sign up for a service called Thrizer. This service let’s you upload your superbill, verify our OON benefits, and submits to your insurance for reimbursement or you can opt to pay only the coinsurance and Thrizer will await the reimbursement on your behalf. For your convenience, a Thrizer Benefit Calculator can be found under services. Try it!

  •  I use HIPAA compliant payment processing and accept the following payments:

    Major credit/debit cards (i.e.Visa/MC/AmEx/Discover).

    HSA/FSA cards.

    ACH bank transfers.

  • 24-hour notice is required. Full fee for late cancels/no-shows to honor your commitment.

  • Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
